Biography
Philippe Jacquot was born in France on April 23, 1966. After a spell as a decorator, it was in 1990 that he decided to devote himself solely to painting. His past experience enabled him to master painting on glass and collaged materials, giving him the opportunity to move away from the traditional support of canvas and paper.
Among the various themes he has dealt with, figures, and particularly women, remain his favorite subject. In each canvas, he strives for aestheticism, lightness, softness and subtlety through curves and the use of light. His technical mastery of painting enables him to move with ease from a realistic style composed of successive glazes, to a more abstract style created by energetic brushstrokes in bright colors. This mixture can appear on the same canvas.
His constant search for new subjects, atmospheres and original techniques leads him to create series of paintings that may have no connection with each other. He paints freely according to his mood and inspiration.
Since 1990, he has exhibited in galleries and taken part in numerous solo and group shows in France and abroad. Philippe Jacquot's work can be found in private collections in France, Europe and the United States.
